Match Report by Vishwesh Khatkool
On good day the weather was fit for playing cricket. Columbia won the toss and elected to bat. Andrew and Tanay opened the innings and started of very well scoring odd boundaries and milking 1’s and 2’s. Soon after Andrew tried to pull a ball which got top edged and was caught out. Manish(Vish friend) went into bat and was looking good but was ruled out LBW. Fergie joined Tanay and both continued the momentum. Fergie tried to open his arms in process got out at deep mid wicket caught. Naval joined Tanay but was unlucky found himself trapped LBW without disturbing the scoreboard.Tanay was holding the other end and was playing mature cricket. Khurram joined Tanay and both played very well. At this point Tanay started to play free Style cricket which took him to his 50(well played Tanay). Tanay was retired to give other ppl chance. Bryan and Khurram started taking advantage of opposition’s tireing attitude and got us 1’s & 2’s regularly. Khurram got out soon and Jassi joined Bryan. Bryan got out soon good direct throw on stumps by opposition team. Bryan showed good sporting spirit by going and congratulating fielder. Jassi was started in top gear wasting no time and hitting and getting whatever we can to add to scorecard. Jassi and Nikhil remain not out to end the innings for Columbia @ 163/6 in 30 overs.
Columbia started to bowling with Shivam and Jassi. But we’re unfortunate on couple of occasions to get the wickets. Opposition were scoring 10 an over. Andrew came in and bowled at brisk pace but initially few fly by thru slips cordon to boundaries. Sid came in and started to bowl tight length and got us the 1st break thru. Then soon Andrew joined the party by a beautiful Yorker and batsmen had no clue and was bowled. Then came Navam and Nikhil. Both bowled a decent line and keeping the batsmen quite. Navam struck the next blow. At this time opposition needed < 1run an over(due to good start).
Vishwesh came in to bowl and got wickets
In each of his 1st 3 overs supported by Navam who grabbed another wicket and to mention some good catching by Andrew & Sid on boundary. With this blow opposition was put on back foot as they were losing wicket in quick succession and + overs reaching to it’s end destination(30over Mark). At the time when opposition needed 19 runs in 3 or 4 overs Vishwesh 1 spell conceded 8 runs which eased the pressure and helped opposition reach their target.
But overall it was a good effort by team and thanks again everyone for the support.
Note: we had few catching opportunities if we would have latched onto then the result of the game could have been in favor of Columbia. So we still need to improve our catching. This is for everyone including skipper.
