Columbia Premier vs Yonkers Eagles (2017-08-27)

Match Report by Sumantro Das

Columbia premier lost by 31 runs chasing 158.

The team bowled really well highlighted by Varuns stunning one handed over-the-head catch that many at the ground will remember for years to come. Yonkers Eagles looked like they would capitulate under 120 but fought back to make 157. Wickets for Ram, Kiran, Ashwin Raj, and Sumo.

Columbia’s batting started steadily and picked up once Sumer and Sharath got in, taking Columbia to 112/2 with both batsmen finding boundaries and blowing open the field to take singles and doubles – leaving us with less than a run a ball required to win. A batting collapse got the better of columbia, the last 6 wickets falling for 19 runs, a match we should have won. Yonkers will breathe a sigh of relief knowing they almost lost to a 9-person team.

Great team spirit and commitment by the 9 players and also by Yonkers Eagles. Premier Division season is over, stay tuned for the T20.
